Who We Are

I attribute the little I know to my not having been ashamed to ask for information, and to my rule of conversing with all descriptions of men on those topics that form their own peculiar professions and pursuits.
-John Locke

For over 25 years, the principals of e3i have assisted individuals, organisations, and all levels of government to find, filter and deliver the vital information needed for future development; ongoing prosperity and long-term survival.

Since the founding of our organisation in 1984, we’ve seen research technology move from library file cards to flat computer screens. We’ve seen costly mainframe bibliographic databases that once charged by the micro-second disappear forever.

We’ve watched carefully as the emergent internet rapidly became a sprawling, ungovernable, unmapped noosphere: with medicine and commerce; the military; social media; mass surveillance; criminal enterprise and philanthropy all jostling for turf on what is becoming an increasingly fragmented, insecure and dysfunctional global commons.

That said, all our past practice; our accumulated knowledge, and our constantly  improving research techniques, along with improvements in IT have made our main tasks of finding, analysing and delivering timely, actionable intelligence both easier, and much faster — which is good news for our clients and colleagues.

But some things never change. No matter how automated, pervasive, immersive and vast information holdings become; we humans will always a be vital part of the information and intelligence cycle.

Ultimately, responsible flesh and blood people are needed to sort the wheat from the chaff; to apply  intuition and experience to a world awash with spin, disinformation and clever propaganda. And it’s our job here at e3i to deploy all that knowledge and hard-won expertise to help you and your organisation safely navigate that vast and growing ocean of raw undigested data..
